Barry Wilkinson

Veterinarian

Dr. Barry Wilkinson earned his B.S degree in Veterinary Science and Microbiology from the University of Arizona in 1999 where he was named the Outstanding Senior of his class. He subsequently attended Colorado State University where he received his D.V.M.in 2003 , graduating in the top 1% of his class,  just 2 months shy of his 50th birthday .He graduated from both of these institutions Summa Cum Laude .

While Dr. Wilkinson has many canine patients he has a special interest in feline medicine and has been a member of The American Association of Feline Practitioners for the past 15 years. While in vet school he served as an officer in the organisation for several years. 

He also enjoys surgery , in particular orthopedic surgery , and has focused a large portion of his continuing education advancing his skills in this area. He is a strong proponent of preventative medicine and client education. Other areas of interest are nutrition and internal medicine. 

He resides in Tucson, AZ with his wife Kim , son Reed and an extensive menagerie of cats, dogs, fish and birds. Kim spends much of her free time managing feral cat colonies in Tucson and is a strong proponent of trap, neuter and release programs which are designed to humanely control feral cat populations and are strongly endorsed by the American Humane Society and the ASPCA .  In his free time Dr Wilkinson enjoys gardening and off-road motorcycling .
